About Me
I have a passion for teaching dressage! My goal is to help you enjoy your journey with your horse.
I teach the proven German method of riding and driving. This system produces a willing horse who is athletic, supple and obedient to the slightest aids from the rider. The goal is harmony on horseback and to have a lot of fun with our Team Wickander friends along the way.
I offer lessons and training at Park Place Dressage, in Prior Lake, MN. With it’s heated and insulated barn and indoor arena, you'll stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The arena has excellent footing, making it a safe place to educate your beloved sport horse. Twenty six acres of rolling hills and mature shade trees lead down to the Credit River offers your horse ample opportunities to relax and enjoy being a horse. Dry lots with shelters and automatic waterers offer a variety of turnout options. Boarding, horse training, lease and lesson horses are available.
At Park Place Dressage, it's all about learning and having fun with your four and two legged friends. Opportunities for you to join us in are: dressage shows, cavaletti time, hunter jumper schooling shows, on site clinics, trail ride excurstions, polocrosse, and fun barn parties! I invite you to contact me, you and your horse deserve it!
Harmony
Emphasizing rider biomechanics (thanks to education I received at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls), and a focus on harmonious communication between horse and rider is what my training is all about. The pyramid of training and the practical application of the classical German training system is the foundation of the riding. I studied at Flyinge, the National Stud of Sweden, in Vechta, Germany (where I earned the Bronze Medal for jumping and dressage from the German Equestrian Federation), and I rode with the late master Egon von Neindorf in Germany. I continue to study with Ron Postleb and Brad Cutschall. As a USDF Gold Medalist and current Grand Prix competitor, I feel excited to share my experience with you. I invite you to reach out to talk about your vision and goals.
When taking lessons with me, expect to improve your understanding of the horse and the skills we use to communicate with the horse. These skills include position, your balance in motion, and correct use of light and correctly timed aids. Through the use of a great variety of exercises, you will feel more confident and in harmony with your horse. I can give you the tools you need achieve your goals with your horse and produce a willing and responsive partner. As your instructor, I promise to give you all I can to improve your skills as a rider as well as provide a fun, safe and supportive learning environment.
I focus on competitive adult amateurs, however, I believe anyone can benefit from dressage training, and I am willing to teach anyone who wants to learn. If you need a school horse, please contact me to check on availability. I invite you to come watch me teach some lessons and consider joining our winning team!
